Why do managers need Coaching & Mentoring?
Being a manager is a career choice, and like anything, if you want to do it well, it requires learning and practice. And there's nothing like learning and practicing when you have a personal trainer and advisor who can help you refine and strengthen your managerial skills and tools, and see the things you miss (like blind spots in driving).
As a manager, whether it was a team leader, department manager, or VP, I was required to cope with frequent and rapid changes, and display very high interpersonal communication skills, and marketing and business vision, similar to any manager today and regardless of the field.
Also, and very importantly, I learned that everything that brought me to that managerial position was good but not necessarily relevant and accurate to the new position. And to that, we will add that the role of the manager can be very lonely.
I well remember the need to consult and share, to get a different angle from an objective source, and that's exactly why I'm here!
